Acts 17:11 – “Now the Beroeans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures everyday to see if what Paul said was true.”
The Radio homes also called the Beroea Groups are so named that, they like the Beroeans of the Bible are eager to examine the Scriptures and study the Word of God.
In its task of introducing Christ to the people through the word of God, TWR identified various challenges / issues with regard to leadership development. Not only was there a lack of adequately trained leaders, an intensive and systematic instruction of the word of God was missing. The local congregation was overly dependent on pastors and outside teachers. In addition, in the absence of proper resource materials, there were false teachings, irrelevant communications and a mislaid focus on unimportant issues. The fellowship groups that existed were large, inconvenient, and the resources not used properly. During those meetings social existence was given undue importance. Further, there was a definite lack of emphasis on evangelism and witnessing with social action taking the place of evangelism. Thereby, it failed to attract people from other faiths.
The Beroea Groups are essentially radio home groups formed to promote leadership and facilitate fellowship and evangelism. They comprise groups of people coming together to listen to the THRU THE BIBLE PROGRAM and thereby learn the Word of God. The response thus far has been positive. To witness the communities opening up their homes to house a Beroea Meeting is encouraging. At present, in the Gondi and Banjara areas alone, there are about 300 groups.
